Music Program

Abram Agnew Elementary's offer of an early development of music in all students is a highlight that very few schools offer in the Bay Area.
All 3rd grade students get weekly lessons in xylophone, recorder, and beginning vocal music, with a major focus on reading music. The upper class students are offered an array of instruments to play. Starting in 4th grade, the students can pick a beginning instrument in orchestra or band. Orchestra offers a choice of the string instruments: violin, viola, and cello. Band students choose flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, or percussion. In 5th grade, the students can continue with the instrument they started with in 4th grade, or pick a new one!
